Notification of new caches slow to come out

This explains why some caches are being found before you even get the notification announcing a new cache: http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=299334

I think it's more than just a recent issue with the hardware.

Notifications are emailed out to the world as a batch perhaps, but not all emails arrive at the same time. Surely you've experienced arriving at a GZ within minutes of publication, only to find someone signed the log hours ago?

I can't tell you if some services are faster than others, or if there's some other variables at work, but I've seen more than my fair share of logs bemoaning the fact that someone missed out on a FTF log despite being johnny-on-the-spot after receiving the notification.

I use GMail for my GC account and get the notifications almost instantly (i.e. PQ completes and I get the notification right away if there is not a huge backlog on PQs).

With my Rogers account (generally speaking), some messages sent to me take hours or days.

I didn't start to get Sunday's owner notifications until Monday morning.
