Powerex smart charger - Tips please?
« on: December 27, 2012, 11:00:41 »
So me favourite wife gave me a Maha Powerex 4-slot smart charger for Christmas. (Well, OK, I handed it to her and told her to give it to me :) )

The manual is maybe a bit "Garmin-ish", and I know a bunch of people here have chargers like this, so I was wondering what the best plan is for my Eneloop and Duraloops that are starting to get a little lazy?

My charger has the following settings

1) Charge
2) Refresh Analyze
3) Break-in
4) Discharge
5) cycle

Ah yes, the Maha C-9000.  Great charger.

For your cells that are getting a bit lazy, perform a discharge with a rate of 500 mA.

Once discharged, perform a break-in cycle.  You will be prompted for the cell capacity (2000 mAh for both sets of 'loops).
At the end of the break-in cycle (almost 2 days), it will display what each cells true capacity is.

A faster way to exercise the cells and possible wake them up some is to perform the Refresh Analyze cycle.
Again, discharge the cells at 500 mA and then perform a Refresh Analyze cycle, specifying a charge rate of 1000 mA.
