I am waiting for the summer to do this..  That's right across the street from my office, and I saw foot prints on the ice, but could only think you'd be a little bit whacky to try to cross.

Glad you made it safe.

With the thaw coming on Wednesday (+7-14 degrees, depending on who you ask!) I would recommend anyone aiming to find this cache to either go today, and stay well away from the dark spots, or wait until the mild spell passes and has a chance to solidly refreeze.

If the water was shallow enough for people to wade across, I was never really that concerned about falling through. The two dog-walkers that went ahead of us kind of cinched the deal for me though. Amazing what you're willing to do when you see someone else doing it just in front of you :)
