In addition to The Red-Haired Witch's points about the dates for "hunting season" remember that most, if not all, of these caches will be placed in the urban greenspaces in and around Ottawa and Gatineau where hunting is restricted, i.e. it's not an issue...

Before people ask about the date being pushed out to November, there were many factors involved in the decision. With October being a prime month for hall bookings (Thanksgiving, Halloween), add to that key members of tge CCC had conflicting availability on certain weekends that month, wedecuded to push it out to November. As Missbug said, the bonus is the 11th is a fed holiday (remembrance day), which potentially gives us a day off to puzzle solve (and next year too)

Tentative theme this year is hunting season

November 11 is not a day off to puzzle solve.  Have some respect!

Saturday November 13th for the event.
Montgomery Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kent Street, as the venue.

Kent Street?  Now that poses a parking problem!

Kent Street?  Now that poses a parking problem!

Plenty of on-street parking, and a commercial lot nearby.  The Legion has never had an issue with insufficient parking in the past.

November 11th is a day off for many people in Ottawa.  And yes, many will take some time to remember the veterans.  Some will go to the ceremonies or volunteer in some way, some may even toast the veterans a few time.

But the great majority of people will also do other things on that day.  If you choose to spend ALL day and night meditating on the life and death of the veterans, that is your choice.  But that doesn't mean everyone else is being disrespectful.  ::)

I don't see anything disrespectful in solving some puzzles on November 11th.

If you don't mind walking a little bit there is some FREE parking just north..

I don't think he was serious. Was he?!?

All citizens will never agree on our government decisions and we all not share the same views regarding foreign affairs, military actions and such. It's a geocaching forum and we shouldn't be telling people to either be respectful or not about something else than geocaching.

Days off are days off and you do what you want while you're away from work. No one needs to know and no one deserves to be told what to do.

If you get the day off, another thing to be thankful about.
Those of us in the private sector generally are not so lucky.

That being said, now is the time to plan some clever hides.

Remember be kind to the reviewers and have your cache submitted by the end of this month.  That gives time for review and any issues (proximity) to be addressed before they are published for the event.
