Bulk Editing of User Data Fields
« on: May 16, 2014, 21:44:32 »
Hello,

I'm trying to use a macro for Defi 5 challenges (http://www.gel.usherbrooke.ca/opusterra/EvaluateurDefi5.shtml), but it requires that the city a cache is found in is in one of the user data fields. I was wondering if there's a way to bulk edit a list of caches that I know are in the same city and edit them all at once (i.e., only have to type "Ottawa" once instead of editing each record individually).

TIA!

Sasha

First you need to get the set of records that you want to change. Then, under the Database menu, choose "Global  replace ...". Choose the field you want to update, set the value you want to enter, identify the replacement mode, and click "replace". All the records in the current filter will be updated.

You could save yourself some time by using the 'County' field as a proxy for city. The CountryStateCounty macro will populate that field for you.
