Double FTF claims
« on: January 29, 2015, 00:32:09 »
In the past few days, I have noticed two caches thousands of kilometers away from each other where the same mistake happened: two separate unrelated groups of cachers genuinely claimed FTF when, obviously, only one of the groups was deserving (GC5KFB1 and GC5JZN6). It had happened to us as well a few years ago.
Each time, it seems to have happened for the exact same reason. Thanks to the pictures posted by the respective genuine FTF holders, we can see that the logbook was one of these long narrow pre-printed geocaching logbooks, with a designated area at the top for FTF claim, separate from the rest of the logbook.
It seems like the FTF group writes their name at the top, then the second group signs at the top of the "regular" section without realizing that the very top section contains more than just the GC code/title of the cache.

Not sure how easy it is to prevent those sad after-the-fact disappointments for the de facto STF.
Of course, this post is a reminder to all local FTF-wannabe to check the very top section before making a claim, but I was also wondering if one could share with the community a similar-shaped logbook that would be easy to print and/or purchase and that would not have that flaw, that could be used for placing new caches?

The log sheet with the FTF spot at the top in GC5KFB1 is from Techblazer.
