I signed the log for "Variety Is The Spice Of Life Challenge:Cache Owner" http://coord.info/GC42DE0 back in early April with Model12. The challenge requires you to find a cache by a different Cache Owner (CO), each day, for 50 consecutive days. Essentially a 50 day streak with the unique cacheowner twist.

Since no one has written a Project-gc.com challenge checker for it yet, and there's no GSAK macro that Model12 can find, I have no way of knowing if I've accomplished this feat in the past so I started a new streak on April 11th, I've got 19 entries so far and it's looking good!

Anyone got an active challenge you're working on?

Though we like challenges, we generally avoid those involving long(ish) streaks, since they tend to become more of a chore than fun to complete.

We're focused on a couple of your challenge caches at the moment, History Challenge: The Golden Oldies, and History Challenge: JASMER.  We need just one more find to qualify for the former, and two more for the latter.  We hope to finish both while returning from GeoWoodstock in Maryland in late May.  We have a number of other (non-local) challenges bubbling on the back burner.

I completed the 25 mystery in a day last weekend and when I get out to sign it I'll also sign "One Year/ One Thousand Finds".     Once I find the left over puzzles I hope to have the unbalanced cacher, so I can get back to normal and stop leaving caches behind.  I almost completed the 3 month streak last year and it had became a chore rather than a habit.   Picked up a lonely cache yesterday and parts of a few others slowly clearing out the non traditionals that I skipped over in my first year and slowly filling up the grids and picking away at the oldies.

During our run to Delta last month, I qualified for "History Challenge: Ten Years - One Day" without even knowing it; found out afterwards via the moratorium discussions.

I'm still working on Xira's Bingo Card challenge, but I've done all I can do until next winter.

GPComd's 36-24-36 and LITG's The 50 Golden Oldies Challenge - Think Local! challenges are still works in progress.

Then there's the The “Well Rounded Cacher” Trackables Challenge that I hope to complete this year, and find next winter.

I'm still working away at carnigrewal's  "Variety Is The Spice Of Life Challenge:Cache Owner" http://coord.info/GC42DE0, day 37 now, but since we're going to be in a new city for a while there's an opportunity to bag another challenge this week: "Carni Challenge Trail: 8 Days, 8 Cache Types" by carnigrewal http://coord.info/GC4T1Z6, eight different cache types in eight consecutive days!

We're heading to Paris which has a webcam, lots of Wherigos and EarthCaches, and a whack of Virtual caches. Throw in the usual caches and the eight icons in eight days should be a breeze. Scheduling them will be important because on top of this there is the "Le challenge des icones" by Portokeil http://coord.info/GC24MHW in Paris. It should make for an interesting day....

Wish me luck.

I managed to bag  "Le challenge des icones" by Portokeil http://coord.info/GC24MHW today! Not too difficult really with all the unfound caches surrounding me! On Wednesday, May 20th, as we visited Notre Dame I found:

Notre-Dame de Paris by fran6ois | GC5NHTC, a traditional cache
Le Lutétien de Notre-Dame by Chickilim | GC4GKEE, an EarthCache
I ? Paris by starless | GC2JVJB, a Wherigo cache
Le challenge du FTF by Portokeil | GC2F1BT, a mystery/unknown cache and
Bonjour de Paris by IntotheWoods | GCHJA0, the only webcam cache in Paris!

I've still got the "Variety Is The Spice Of Life Challenge:Cache Owner" http://coord.info/GC42DE0, and "Carni Challenge Trail: 8 Days, 8 Cache Types" by carnigrewal http://coord.info/GC4T1Z6, in my sights! Things are progressing nicely.....

I found a cache in Paris this morning, over 5,000 km from Ottawa, and once I arrive home I'll go find "Travelling Challenge Cache" by ernie35, http://coord.info/GC3GH4P! This will also let me log a find on "Challenge: 2-2-5000" by carnigrewal http://coord.info/GC2Q78M

An intercontinental day!

Last Saturday, May 30th, I found a cache with a unique owner for the fiftieth consecutive day and claimed my find on the "Variety Is The Spice Of Life Challenge: Cache Owner" by carnigrewal http://coord.info/GC42DE0, and the "Carni Challenge Trail: 8 Days, 8 Cache Types" by carnigrewal http://coord.info/GC4T1Z6 was completed on May 26th when I attended the Monthly Meet & Eat Event.

A little planning, taking advantage of some travel, and the month of May provided me 11 challenge cache finds! And the summer is just beginning......

I claimed the find on "Variety Is The Spice Of Life Challenge: Cache Owner" http://coord.info/GC42DE0 on Saturday May 30th, but since then there's been so many new caches published that the streak continues, and with a unique cacheowner each day! It seems that every other log I upload includes the words "Congratulations on your first cache hide....".

Now at 60 + finds and there's no end in sight! If I can extend this "unique cache owner" streak to 100 days, and they re-instate challenge caches, there may be a new challenge cache in Ottawa next year.....  ::)

It's been a fun spring so far, I wonder what the summer will bring?

I'm continuing the 'unique cache owner per day' streak, day 137, just because, but I'm currently striving for another challenge cache:
"The Little Blue Pill Difficulty Challenge" by carnigrewal http://coord.info/GC49BQV that requires a cache for 10 days in a row that has a difficulty rating equal to, or greater than, 3 stars.  I found the cache back in April with Model12 but did not qualify.

This summer's new cache placements, a trip to Napanee for the MEGA event's caches, and some luck and I'm at seven days.....

We have completed our fifth Fizzy grid, but there is no challenge for that anywhere near (or not-so-near) Ottawa. If anyone knows of such a cache, let us know about it.

We are slowly making progress on the three caches for which we have signed the logbooks already in Alberta and near Montreal:
GC2GYRT Unknown Cache Défi 100 PÀTs (£131) --> need 7 more FTF
GC5KMXQ Unknown Cache Early Bird Challenge --> need 36 more finds on the day of publication (surprisingly harder than increasing our FTF count)
GC5NG1F Unknown Cache Winter Caching Challenge --> need another 21 random caches next February

Closer to home, we have almost exhausted all the challenge caches that we are interested in (and unfortunately no new ones because of the moratorium). Of the remaining ones, we have:
- those that are on our TODO list for some day (Birthday Party Challenge, Do Your Part: Cache In Trash Out Challenge, Thanks Dutchmaster)
- those that are doable but we may never have the motivation to work on them (Benchmark Challenge, 25-Puzzles-in-1-Day Challenge, 50 caches Challenge, K & P - DOUBLE TROUBLE CHALLENGE, Half-Marathon Challenge Cache, Canadianzombie's Century Club Challenge)
- those that are so unlikely that they should probably be added to our ignore list (Somewhat Unbalanced Geocacher Challenge, Trackables Challenge, One Year/ One Thousand Finds, CZ's Ultimate "30 Day" Matrix Challenge)
- those that already are on our ignore list (any streak above 50 days)

And of course, there is the unofficial binthair challenge... we made a big dent into it a few years back (29 to date) and were hoping to find one more each year, but we have yet to find one this year. 12 more active ones to go...

As we posted back in April, our main goals for this year were Blue's History Challenge: The Golden Oldies, and History Challenge: JASMER.  We did manage to finish both during our road trip into NE US in May.  We also finished our quad Fizzy, and are just three short of the 5X level, but we're not actively working on that.

Like cd.cuts, we've pretty much exhausted all of the local challenges, except for those involving long streaks, in which we have no interest.  There are lots more in southern Ontario (mostly by carnigrewal) that we're interested in doing sometime, so we're keeping track of our progress towards qualifying for a number of those ones.

In the meantime, we set some informal challenges for ourselves to keep things interesting.  We enjoy finding older caches, and have now found 84 of the 88 on our own Golden Oldies Challenge (GC5GD7P) list.  Lonely caches are also a particular attraction, and we've found quite a few of those this fall, including a trio that hadn't been found for 3, 4 and 5 years, respectively.  We've been paying more attention to the Quebec side of the river of late, and recently fulfilled a dream of finding all 76 of geofern's active puzzle caches - what a long, strange trip that's been!

So, even though there are no new challenge caches coming out, you can always fashion some special challenges for yourself to add some spice to your caching...

Well I "found" that back in August as planned. Now I'm working slowly toward "Multi Fizzy Challenge", a cache by nhblues<3,  http://coord.info/GC3C59K in New Hampshire, a cache I drive past every summer on the way to Cape Cod. This 'fizzy challenge' was published in February 2012 along with the nearby companion challenge "Unknown Fizzy Challenge" by nhblues<3, http://coord.info/GC3C508. As the names suggest they require you to earn a complete 81 grid with caches that are multi's or puzzles. I was second to find on the "Unknown Fizzy Challenge" but some Difficulty/Terrain combinations are rare in multi caches; to date the "Multi Fizzy Challenge" has only one finder!

This Multi Fizzy Challenge requires some research. The caches have to be searched out and found during road-trips. I'm currently short 5 multicache D/T ratings for this challenge, but I've identified where several options for each them are located and have them on a long term list. Perhaps by this summer's vacation trip I'll be able to claim a find on the multi fizzy at last!

I'm working on 365 days of caching. I figure there's a challenge cache for it, but it's mostly a personal challenge. My time is severely limited, however I've been able to get a cache at lunchtime at work. I work nights so my challenge is using a flashlight too. I have 55 days left.
