« on: December 01, 2010, 14:28:38 »
Does anyone know if there will be a "2010 Christmas present cache"?

If yes, do you also know the date / time ?

Cheers.

I am hoping so..  My goal was to make it my 500th cache.  I remember an issue last year, so I am not holding my breath.

Check out this (now archived) cache for an idea. http://coord.info/GC21H7P For more years than I have been actually geocaching they have been doing this.

No it appears there will not be a Christmas Cache by Tick & Nammie this year, or so I hear through the grapevine. There was much criticism last year when the cache location was moved at the last minute without any warning leaving people wandering around searching for the 'party'. Tick & Nammie were also stung by the reviewers reaction when they archived the cache so quickly. Traditional caches are supposed to be around a while....

However someone has expressed an interest in hosting one since they are so much fun.

I hope there will be a couple of differences from past years though: it should be an 'event' cache not a 'traditional' and once the co-ordinates are posted they should not be changed without notice!

An event is good too.  It will still make it #500 (maybe)

Thanks for the update.  ;D

I'll keep an eye out for the publishing of the event!

No Christmas cache?  That's just a shame.  I missed last year's because of unavoidable work commitments but really looked forward to this geo-Christmas tradition.  I hate it when 5% of drama overshadows the 95% of greatness in things.

I hope T&N are still around and doing well.  I noticed their conspicuous absence from the last GAG event(s) as well.  I realize they're a growing, busy family...

As for the archival criticism, I thought the intent of the cache was to keep it around (turn it into a traditional ammo box), but then there was an issue and that's why it was archived right away?  I thought I remember that there was a reason.

I agree it's unfortunate when you've worked so hard to build up something only to have people "forget" and then treat you with disrespect. I'm not suggesting anyone get preferential treatment, only that they not be treated like n00bs.

I just realized I have 44 caches to 500 and only (guessing here) 20 days left to find them before an event, or "Christmas" cache (that may or may not be in the works) is published.   I am going to try and get out for a bike ride this weekend (weather permitting) but I am actually not sure I will reach my goal... this is the first time it has actually been a concern.  :(

It's worse than you thought... you only have 16 days until the "Christmas 2010" event http://coord.info/GC2JYZM

Just what I needed... a tighter deadline.  Where did those CHL Caches end up?  Maybe that's my solution.

They start in Wyman which isn't too far from Shawville.  http://coord.info/GC2EAYV

This is getting off topic. Sorry!  Lets discuss the Christmas Cache.  Are we supposed to bring presents to exchange?
