PiGo app for iPhone - HELP!
« on: December 23, 2010, 11:25:39 »
I've downloaded the PiGo app for doing Wherigo cartridges in anticipation of finding " Les 12 travaux d'Hercule Vélo" by Rhinograde et Gadelle http://coord.info/GC2KDDQ.

I use the app to navigate to the Wherigo site, log in with my GC.com account info and find the nearest Cartidges available.
I find the one I want, called "Bicyclette" for some reason, and hit download..... and I'm asked to log in, again?
I log in again, hit download again and I'm asked to log in.....again...

And around and around we go..... Is this an app issue? Is this a Wherigo webpage issue? Am I going mad?

Does anyone have any insight?

Lib, on the second log-in request, have you tried logging in to wherigo.com?

The above is just a hunch, for I have only ever done one Wherigo. Maybe worth a try?

(Wherigo.com has a web page where you can create an account.)

Good luck, from Green Frog.

No, I'm on the Wherigo page, I just can't download through the PiGo.
I suspect you have to go through iTunes....

Same results here.  The Sign-in function on the main WhereIGo page has some javascript in it that the iPhone does not like.  I've tried a few work-arounds, but can't get the cookie to set itself so I can download a cartridge.

I checked the PiGo site, and sure enough, it is a known issue.  You can still download the cartridges through iTunes though.

From the site:

1) Sometimes logging into the web site doesn't work! Groundspeak is looking into this. Meanwhile, we've tested a new login button and will add that in the next update. Also, with newer devices, you can download cartridges with your computer and drag and drop to the PiGo app folder in iTunes.

2) Be sure to select "PocketPC" as the device when downloading cartridges for best results, although any device should work.

To add cartridges through iTunes:

1) Connect your phone to your PC (duh!), and launch iTunes
2) Under Devices, click on the name of your iPhone
3) Click on the APPS tab (usually top middle of the screen)
4) In the section below titled File Sharing, click on the PiGo app.  NOT in the Sync section.
5) Bottom right corner, click Add.
6) Navigate to your cartridges and add them.  Be sure they are the PocketPC version.

Voila!

The PiGo iPhone app has been updated, looks like the Sign-In problem has been fixed.  The app is once again able to download cartridges directly from the Wherigo.com site.
