A real treasure trove of FREE maps for anyone to use!

Blue -

This site has a great selection of New York State topo tiles, also downloaded Ibycus USA 2.0 and OSM Canada Routable and successfully loaded into MapSource.

Morning, I found the website http://www.ibycus.com/ibycustop however I was unable to download the maps for my sister.  At first glance, it seemed that the maps can no longer be downloaded.   AM I missing something?  My sister does not have CityNavigator and just has the basic Mapsource maps that came with her EtrexLegend  Any thoughts?

From the Website:

The Download

Unfortunately, due to problems with hosting popular 3+GB files for download, I am no longer able to make the files available via direct download. They are available via BitTorrent (see YouTube videos) or you can contact me to purchase a DVD ($25)

If you'd like to support my efforts (I'm a poor starving student) feel free, but you are in no way obligated to do so.

I particularly like cash and geocoins.

I have used Ibycus Topo for a few years now -- first an earlier version on my Nuvi 255W and then v4.0 on the 450.  I have been very pleased and would recommend it.  Though it is not routable, the amount of detail makes it, IMHO, far more useful than Garmin's TopoCanada v 4 for caching and other siuations where you need more detail and information.

When I bought the 450, I wanted to update my version of Ibycus to v4.0.  I sent the owner (Dale Atkin) funds for the DVD with a little extra and it arrived in ten days.  No problems loading up.

Hi Renee,
Do you not need to upload maps from Basecamp rather than Mapsource for your Oregon?   Did you try OpenStreetMap?   Ibycus sounded complicated to me.    Thanks Renee.   Perhaps we should talk rather than forum e-mail?

OK, I've downloaded Torrent.  Not sure where to go from here - you're probably thinking "doh".  What can I say.  Maybe it's not for me.

Oh Man, I got to a website that wanted personal info and credit card.  Can't be right.

Great thread. we took a shot at OSM and it seems to have worked for these 'tech challenged' geocachers. Thanks to all for the info to digest. Does the learning curve ever straighten out instead of looking like a cliff face? Cheers, and Take A Hike!
