60 Series Battery Cover needed
« on: March 08, 2011, 08:54:55 »
I have somehow broken the little plastic end at the bottom of my 60Cx that holds the battery cover in place.  While the locking mechanism keeps the battery cover in place, I now have a gap at the bottom of the unit that allows snow and water into the battery compartment.  I don’t suppose anybody knows where I can get a cheap 60 series battery cover?

I just took a look at mine, and sure enough, there's a crack across the end piece, so I'll be looking for a replacement cover soon.

If anyone wants to order from GPSCity, remember that there's an option for free shipping via the KAG forum. Using their KAG's GPSCity Affiliate Link helps them too.

Seems like a common problem.  My original broke years ago, so I just used camo duct tape to hold it on.  Worked great until the rubber antenna cover also came unglued one day, and all the lettering was worn off the rubber buttons due to too much exposure to bug repellent.  The $150 "face lift" program from Garmin fixed all that with a brand new unit.  All my GPSrs are now in protective neoprene cases at all times.  (http://www.gpscentral.ca/accessories/neopro60case.htm) They still look mint after 2 years of use.
