iTouch Wanted

Does anyone have an old iTouch gathering dust. Aldy is thinking about using one on her Camino Trail hike. Wifi needed.

You mean she should bring a quill and parchment? *grin*

Maybe an iPhone would be a better choice, the phone might be handy for emergencies.

But the roaming charge on the phone bill would mean she can't afford to fly home...

There's a scene in the movie where they discuss the definition of a pilgrim, and just what it means in today's world. Early pilgrims walked the trail with everything they owned on their back, and took advantage of every opportunity along the trail. So, does a modern pilgrim do the same, or do they try to emulate the ancient pilgrims?

Do they need to shun modern technology in order to qualify as a pilgrim?

The movie is "The Way" with Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez.

If there are really 100 000 "pilgrims" a year doing this trail, a phone for emergencies is probably not all that essential.  This is no Appalachian trail expedition, she is unlikely to be all alone in the middle of nowhere  ;)

An iTouch seems like a better idea than carrying heavy parchment.  (Sorry, don't have one, I didn't even realise those wee considered "old" now... a Palm must be an antique then)

I suspect that most of those frowning on the use of hi-tech devices on the trail will still wear modern shoes and clothes rather than what was worn a thousand years ago. Selective authenticity?
