But at $300, why not go the extra $40 and get an Oregon?

Why not save $150 and get a used Map60Cx, which is far superior to an Oregon in ever way imaginable when it comes to the best entry level gps for the money for new cachers just starting out...?

People like having caches pages in their unit plus the wireless transfer.  Yes Map60Cx nice deal but even it is starting to get old and out dated.  Besides...at somepoint you will find that everyone is on top of the cache and you are off, the accuracy goes to the GPS used in the hiding and  it is starting to swing away from the map60 series....dare i say it may swing Magellan way .... ducking and covering

Oh, Oh....You've dissed 'the 60' and said the 'M word' in the same sentance, this should be good.   ::)

Despite all the '20 meters over there Magellan' jokes we keep making I'm impressed by the latest offerings by Magellan. For the cost they are a tremendous value so Garmin had better taking nothing for granted.
Eventually I'm going to replace this MAP 60 of mine, and there's no guarantee it will be with another Garmin model. I'm totally unimpressed with all the crashes and bugs reported by the 62/78 users and as for the Oregons - don't get me started....

Crappy Tire had Maggie eXplorist 500's for $49.99 last week. That's an entry level price. I found a 1000 caches with one of those.

No, sorry Inky, but they'd have to pay me more than $50 to get me to use one of those P.O.S. units!

I was referring to the newer generation of Magellan, starting with the GC and extending to the 610 model. They seem to have overcome some of the user interface problems of the older models....
