Some Shoppers stores put their no-name brand on the same sale as another Shoppers store's Duracells. They are franchises and don't necessarily run the same sales at the same time! We found that out last time there was a sale on white-tops (but weren't fooled!).

I am 90% sure that my charger is doing the damage to my batteries.  I have to invest in something better,  I didn't wait for a sale and bought the duracells at 19.99 which is their regular price but after a full charge (according to my cheap charger) they last only a few hours if I am lucky.

You didn't happen to see the Imedion or PowerEx batteries there, did you?

BTW, for those that are interested, I happened upon a self study on the Imedion series of batteries from Maha.

Here's the link to the Candlepower forums: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?182914-MAHA-Imedion-study

Sanyo Eneloops and PowerEx Imedion AA's on sale at Canada Computers.

Package of 4 for $12.99 each  $4 off  (every little bit helps).

Does anyone have experience with the Energizer NiMh?   Apparently the silver ones hold a charge for a year, I've never had them sit that long :-)  The old gray ones don't last all that long, I think I'd be lucky if I get 100 cycles with them.

I've been using two pairs of the Energizer NiMH 2300's for a few months now with no issues.  They seem to hold a charge no problem but I've only been through ~ 20 charging cycles.  I find they can get me through a full day of caching with my Oregon 450 provided I don't keep the backlight on all the time.  I have an 8 hour wall charger and that works with my caching habits.

I might look in to a higher mA set some time to allow for longer runs but generally I keep a few sets of regular batteries around just in case.
